Dr. Zane Olina

Profile
Dr. Olina came to the United States in 1998 as a Fulbright Scholar from her home country Latvia. In Latvia, she was a co-founder and director of a national non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of the Latvian educational system. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Dr. Olina supervised curriculum development teams, designed and delivered training programs, facilitated strategic planning meetings for various groups, and wrote resource materials for schools. She was also part of the initial team of the Soros Foundation-Latvia (SFL) Transformation of Education Program where she directed a nation-wide school improvement project. She has served as a board member of SFL’s Transformation of Education Program, Riga Center for Non-Governmental Organizations, and the Latvian Environmental Educators’ Association. During her time in the USA, Dr. Olina worked with a local high school district in Arizona to develop recommendations for teacher training and support for implementing web-based instruction.
