Certificate in Human Performance Technology (HPT)

 

Program Description

This certificate is offered primarily to students who are enrolled in one of the graduate programs that pertain to the specialty areas within HPT. Thus, graduates who earn this certificate will have in-depth knowledge from their majors in one or more of the “solution areas” within HPT in addition to expertise in the broader concept and practices of HPT. The certificate is also offered to persons who have expertise in one of these solution areas as a result of their work history, and to individuals who want to use it as an entry-level achievement in preparation for further formal study or work.

Requirements

  • 15-semester hours (including 2 core course and 3 electives)
  • at least 6 hours must be in Instructional Systems
  • no more than 9 credit hours can be in any one program area
  • all courses must be taken at FSU
  • all course must be completed within 3 years

HPT Concepts and Processes (Required Core Courses)

EME 6631 Managing Instructional Development (3)
EME 6691 Performance Systems Analysis (3)
*Prerequisite: EME 5601
   
System Analysis and HPT Solution Design
Choose one or more of the following:
EDG 6287 Performance/System Planning (3)
EME 6640 Design and Development of Electronic Performance Support Systems (3)
EME 6691 Performance Systems Analysis
MAR 5816 Marketing Strategy (3)*
ADE 5189 Staff Training and Development (3)
MAN 5245 Organizational Behavior*

HPT Systems Integration, Evaluation and Project Management
Choose one or more of the following:
EDF 5461 Introduction of Program Evaluation (3)

Choose one additional course (subject to approval of the Certificate Coordinator) pertaining to any of the above categories. The elective may come from the above list of courses, or another course that pertains to the general aims of this certificate.
